Privacy policy

Effective 27 October 2026. Applies to the AstroStellar website and the AstroStellar Android app, which opens the same website.

Who we are

AstroStellar is a service for two kinds of users: Seekers, who create their own account to read AI-generated astrological interpretations of their own birth chart, and practices(astrologers and their assistants), who keep client records, charts, appointments and invoices in a private workspace. For a practice’s client records the practice is the data fiduciary under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and AstroStellar is its processor; for Seeker accounts, AstroStellar is the data fiduciary.

What we collect

• Account: your email address and a one-way hash of your password. Email is verified by a one-time code before an account exists.
• Birth details (Seekers, and practice clients): date, time and place of birth, and the gender used for chart rules. These are encrypted at rest.
• Questions and chat you type to the AI, and the answers, stored with your account so you can read them again. They are encrypted at rest.
• Practice records (practices only): client names, phone numbers, notes, appointments, remedies and invoices, scoped to that practice. Phone numbers and notes are encrypted at rest.
• Payments: when you recharge AI credits, the order id, amount and status. Card and bank details go to Razorpay and never reach us.
• Technical: sign-in attempts and the IP address they came from, kept briefly to limit abuse; an audit trail of actions taken inside a practice.

We do not use advertising identifiers, third-party analytics or tracking cookies. Cookies are limited to your session and your language choice.

How the AI uses your data

Chart calculations run on our own server and never leave it. When you ask the AI a question, we send a minimised set of chart facts (planetary positions, periods) and your question to OpenAI to generate the answer. We do not send your name, email, or your date, time or place of birth as fields. Your question itself is free text: anything you type in it, including personal details, is sent as you wrote it, so write only what you want the AI provider to see. Answers are AI-generated astrological interpretations, labelled as such; they are not professional, medical, legal or financial advice and are not guaranteed outcomes. You can report any answer from the answer itself; a person reviews it.

Who else processes data

• OpenAI — AI answer generation (minimised chart facts and your question only).
• Zoho ZeptoMail — delivery of verification, sign-up and password-reset emails.
• Razorpay — payment collection for AI credit recharges.
• Our hosting provider — the servers and encrypted database the service runs on.

We do not sell personal data and do not share it with anyone else.

How long we keep it

Your account and everything in it stay until you delete them. One-time codes expire within ten minutes. Sign-in attempt records are kept for a short window only. Invoices a practice has issued are retained for as long as tax law requires.

Deleting your data

Seekers can delete their account at any time from Account → Delete my data in the website or the app, or by following the steps on Delete my accountwithout reinstalling anything. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. It removes your birth details, chart, questions, answers, saved reports and sessions, and de-identifies the account: your email and name are replaced and the account can never be signed in to again. What is retained: records of payments and AI credit use (amounts, dates and provider references, with no personal details), which we must keep for accounting and tax law, and the de-identified account row they point to. Unused credits are forfeited. Practice owners manage their clients’ records, including deletion, from their workspace. You can also email us to ask for deletion.

Your rights

You may ask for access to, correction of, or erasure of your personal data, and withdraw consent by deleting your account. Practice clients should contact the practice that holds their record; we help the practice fulfil the request.

Children

AstroStellar is for adults. We do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 18.
